Are you interested in a M.Sc. or PhD position at IHP`s
Materials Research Department dealing with modern
materials research for future Si-based microelectronics ?
Nanoscience and Nanotechnology offer exciting opportunities for young students in the field of materials research. The tailoring of materials properties on the nano-scale requires however a broad experimental basis of sophisticated materials science characterization techniques. IHP`s Materials Research Department with its state-of-the-art research facilities is well equipped to tackle these challenges. Furthermore, the high brilliance of 3rd generation European synchrotron radiation sources provides a unique opportunity to look in a non-destructive way deeply into nano-scaled materials systems. It is a strong part of IHP materials research activities to supplement laboratory based characterization techniques by state-of-the-art synchrotron radiation studies. Special emphasize is devoted to (hard X-ray) photoelectron spectroscopy as well as X-ray diffraction studies, making use of the facilities Bessy II in Berlin (Germany), Hasylab in Hamburg (Germany) as well as the ESRF in Grenoble (France). The images show the IHP scientists Alessandro Giussani, Thomas Schroeder and Peter Zaumseil (from left to right) in the experimental hutch of ID 32 at the ESRF with the Kappa - 6 circle diffractometer for studying Germanium heterostructures on Silicon wafers. Are you interested to develop your professional skills in this state-of-the-art research environment? In case of interest, you are welcome to contact us for doing your M.Sc. or PhD work at IHP. We are looking forward to meet you…
