   Circuit Design Department

IHP’s Circuit Design department conducts research and development for silicon-based microwave circuits at microwave frequencies up to 124 GHz.

Currently the main research topics are: RF components and transceivers for WLAN, circuits for automotive radar, low power UWB frontends, high-datarate A/D- and D/A converters, and power electronics (integrated power amplifiers, switches and power control circuits) based on integrated RF LDMOS and HBTs.

The activities of the department are closely coordinated with those of the system design department since RF circuits used to be integrated key elements of wireless systems.

Circuit Design activities started at the IHP in 1997. The department now employs 17 scientists, PhD students and postdocs.
