The Land Brandenburg is famous for its diverse landscape, nature preserves with forests and lakes, and many castles and fortresses. Yet the international and economic aspects of the greater Berlin area are also of great importance. Frankfurt (Oder) is the fourth largest city in Brandenburg and is situated directly on the German-Polish border. Due to its numerous photovoltaics firms, the Technologiepark Ostbrandenburg, and the Europa-Universität Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder) has become an important center for technology, science, and education. Culture is a main feature of the Kleist-Stadt Frankfurt, home of the playwright Heinrich von Kleist. It is not only home to many museums but also to the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester (“Brandenburg State Orchestra”).
