The main focus of research interest is on interfacing complex materials (metal / semiconductor; graphene / oxides etc.) as well as advanced functions (metamaterials, biosensing etc. with Si CMOS) to achieve advanced functionalized Silicon integrated circuits for solving challenges in modern societies. These research tasks include for example modern materials science on interfacing materials for complex device heterostructures; the viewgraph shows ongoing nanoscience activities at IHP and PUT to understand metal contact formation of Cobalt (Co) and Nickel (Ni) on Germanium (Ge) surface with (001) orientation in a comparative approach for future Ge photonic devices - like Ge lasers ! - in electronic-photonic group IV integrated circuits.
