Technical University of Berlin - Silicon Photonics

Joint Lab "Silicon Photonics"

The Joint Lab Silicon Photonics was founded in June 2008 between TU Berlin and Lebniz-Institute IHP and is running as a reseach facility for providing cutting-edge photonic technology. The close collaboration resulted from the mutual interest of IHP entering the field of photonics and of TU Berlin finding a geographically close technology provider for transferring state-of-the-art SOI waveguide technology. The close relationship has been established with a pilot front-end integration line for the development of application specific novel silicon photonic opto-electronic integrated circuits using the SiGe BiCMOS tookit. The Joint Lab is actively involved in numerous regional, national and EU-funded projects and is driven by highly-skilled personnel with world-leading record in the photonics R&D field.
